The Syrena Theatre has received four grants for the culture sector as part of the National Reconstruction Program (Krajowy Program Odbudowy, KPO). The programme is operated by the National Institute of Music and Dance, and the total value of subsidies awarded to Syrena exceeds 400,000 PLN!

We will produce the following projects:

  1. Micromusical “On Drugs”
We will present selected scenes and songs from the upcoming musical “On Drugs” (Na prochach) which is being produced by Syrena. The play will tell a story about the ongoing opioid crisis in the US. The presentation will be part of our Micromusical cycle.
  2. Around Syrena in 80 years
The project heralds next year’s 80th anniversary celebration of the Syrena Theatre. We are preparing a virtual tour around the theatre spaces which are usually not available to the public, accompanied by tons of photos and video materials showing the work happening backstage. Some of the photos will be presented as an exhibition next to the entrance to the main stage (replacing the exhibition about Syrena’s history, which was created for the 75th anniversary)
  3. Become an ECO-hero!
We will revive the ecological play “Little Alga and the Eco-Syrena Team” directed by Agnieszka Rose and intended for our youngest viewers to watch both in the theatre and online.
  4. Digitization of selected publications of the Syrena Theatre
The project includes transferring our theatre programs online, making them accessible for the visually impaired (with narrators reading the content), and translating some of the programs into English.

More details coming soon.
