
Information on activity
The Syrena Theatre is a city cultural institution and a modern musical scene. The theatre is located on 3 Litewska Street in Warsaw. Attendees to Syrena can watch Polish versions of Broadway and West End hits as well as musicals created by Polish directors. The theatre offers a wide range of workshops for children, adolescents, adults and senior citizens. Additionally, we host music concerts and free lectures and podcasts popularizing knowledge about musicals from all around the world as well as Poland.

Architectural accessibility
There is one entrance to the building from 3 Litewska Street. Above the entrance, there are speakers of the Tutupoint system installed which guide blind and visually impaired people with sound. There is one parking space reserved for people with disabilities in front of the theatre. The theatre is equipped with ramps and lifts that allow wheelchair users to move around the foyer and the auditorium.
Installed equipment:
- vertical lift type LD-500 with a lifting capacity of up to 200 kg
- stair platform type Omega-F with a load capacity of up to 225 kg
Seats for wheelchair users are located on both sides of the auditorium. There is a fully equipped and spacious restroom for people with disabilities located on level -1.

Levels 0 and 1 | The level consist of two platforms, between which there are two groups of stairs with 4 steps each. On the left side there is a ramp leading to the LD-500 vertical lift with a lifting capacity of up to 200 kg, which allows to move a wheelchair to the higher platform of level 0. Dimensions of the ramp: 520 cm long, 118 cm wide at the narrowest point, 52 cm height. The angle of inclination is 6°.The dimensions of the vertical lift platform are 80 x 100 cm. There are 9 steps leading to level 1. The Omega-F stair platform is located here, with a load capacity of up to 225 kg, which allows to move a wheelchair to level 1. The entrance to the auditorium is on this level. The dimensions of the stair platform are 98 x 85 cm. |

Auditorium | On both sides of the auditorium, there are ramps for wheelchair users. The first and last seat in each row can be made available for a person with disability who want to watch the show from a theatre seat. In that case, the wheelchair is placed next to this seat. Attendees who wish to watch the show in their wheelchairs can choose either side of the auditorium. Passage dimensions (right side of the auditorium): 1110 cm long, 143 cm wide at the narrowest point, 96 cm high. The angle of inclination is 5°. Passage dimensions (left side of the auditorium) – the ramp has two degrees of inclination, and closer to the stage it is inclined under a greater degree. Start of the ramp: 990 cm long, 140 cm wide at the narrowest point, 92 cm high. The angle of inclination is 5.5°. End of the ramp: 126 cm long, 140 cm wide at the narrowest point, 22 cm high. The angle of inclination is 10°. |
Accessibility of website
The Theatre undertakes to ensure the availability of the website www.teatrsyrena.pl in accordance with the Act of 4 April 2019 on digital accessibility of websites and mobile applications of public entities. The site is partially compliant with the Act due to the fact that:
- Some of the published photos do not have alternative descriptions;
- The font size in some sections is inadequate to the recommended size;
- Some links are unproperly described;
- Skip links are missing.
The declaration was made on March 1, 2020, and was based on a self-assessment conducted by the theatre. Standard keyboard shortcuts can be used on the website.
In the case of problems with accessing the website, please contact our accessibilityleader: Kamil Sadowski (k.sadowski@teatrsyrena.pl). Any requests for disclosure of unavailable information as well as complaints about lack of accessibility should be directed to the same email address.
Everyone has the right to request the availability of a digital website, mobile application or any element thereof. You can also request information in alternative forms, such as reading a digitally unavailable document, describing the content of a film without audio description, etc. The request should include: data of the reporting person; an indication of which website or application is involved; contact details. If the person requesting wishes to receive information in an alternative form, he/she should also specify this form in the submission.
The public entity should fulfil the request immediately and no later than within 7 days. If it is not possible to meet this deadline, the public entity shall immediately inform about when it will be possible to fulfil the request, but this period may not be longer than 2 months. If accessibility is not possible, the public entity may propose an alternative way of accessing the information.
In the event that the entity refuses to comply with the request to ensure the availability or alternative access to information, you can file a complaint against such action. After exhausting all possibilities, the complaint can also be sent to the Polish Ombudsman (Rzecznik Praw Obywatelskich).
Information for people with visual or hearing impairments
The theatre adjusts the repertoire to the needs of people with visual or hearing impairments – we successively prepare subtitles and audio description for every show. We also offer the hearing impaired people the use of induction loops that are installed in the auditorium, at the ticket office and in the buffet.
Attendees who wish to use the audio description or subtitles are asked to contact us 4 days before the show at the latest, either via email (bilety@teatrsyrena.pl) or by telephone (22 10 11 613 and 22 10 11 616).

Priorities for the modernizing plans of the Syrena Theatre
Internal accessibility improvements:
- Construction of a handrail on the other side of the ramp leading to the lift (for people with physical disabilities);
- Installation of bubble strips along the steps leading to the various levels of the theatre (for people with visual impairments);
- Extension of the railing along the entire length of the stairs leading to level -1 (for people with physical disabilities and visual impairments);
- Installation of handrails on both sides of the stairs between the levels of the main hall (for people with physical disabilities and visual impairments).
Improvements for the entrance to the theatre:
- Reconstruction of the ramp so that angle of inclination is smaller (for people with physical disabilities);
- Installation of handrails alongside the ramp (for people with physical disabilities);
- Installation of handrails on at least one side of the step leading to the entrance (for people with physical disabilities and visual impairments).
- Installation of contrasting stripes along the edge of the step leading to the entrance (for people with visual impairments).
Improvements for restrooms:
- Adaptation of at least one toilet bowl, urinal, washbasin, light switches, mirror in each toilet (men’s and women’s) to the height of children.
