The Goodmans seem like a normal family: Diana takes care of the house, Dan it the breadwinner, their daughter Natalie dreams about escaping her hometown, and their son Gabe is a rebellious teenager and the apple of his mother’s eye. However, mental illness in the family turns their world upside down, as it begins to unravel like a house of cards.
“Next to Normal” is a rock musical about a family secret. In the United States, it was awarded with the Pulitzer prize in the category of drama, as well as three Tony awards – the musical equivalent of the Academy Awards. After debuting on Broadway, the show caused a sensation and was hailed as a breakthrough in the contemporary history of the musical.
