This story really happened. Sixteen-year-old Jamie, a student at a provincial English high school, announced in his career planning classes that he wanted to become a drag queen performer in the future. What’s more, he also intends to go to the school ball in drag. Initially, the school resisted, but Jamie was supported by his family, friends, and eventually the town community. In 2011, a BBC documentary about Jamie was made, and six years later, a musical based on his story premiered in the West End.
We invite you to a performance about breaking barriers and fighting for dreams; one of the best British musicals of recent years, with songs in the style of modern pop. The cast, selected in a casting call, includes stars of Polish musicals and one of the most famous Polish drag queens, known on stage as Twoja Stara.
