Description

A staging of “Kajko i Kokosz. Szkoła latania”, a comic book by Janusz Christa, a school reading for the 4th grade of elementary school in Poland. Chatelain Mirmił always dreamed of being able to fly, so he enrolls to a Higher School of Broom Flying located at Łysa Góra. His faithful warriors Kajko and Kokosz accompany him in the journey. Their absence in Mirmiłów inspires a group of ruffians, under the leadership of the bloodthirsty Hegemon, to attempt to plunder the castle. This family musical – just like the film “Shrek” – is a perfect show for both kids and adults!

The play was nominated for the Jan Kiepura Theatre Music Awards in the category “Best show for younger viewers”, as well as to the Audience’s Musical Awards for the 2021/22 season in the categories “Best set design”, “Best actor” (Marcin Wortmann), “Best supporting actor” (Przemysław Glapiński) and “Best poster”.

A CD with songs from the show are available in the theatre shop.

„Polityka"

The mad flight of the heroes is a reference to the new adventure cinema, and the scenes with the headmistress of the Higher School of Broom Flying are spectacular. She is played – brilliantly – by Przemysław Glapiński, who steals the show also in the role of the Corporal.

„Nowa Fantastyka"

The adventures of Mirmił, who like Icarus dreamed about flying through the clouds, are really entertaining. The makeup and costumes of the actors recreate an exaggerated version of the characteristic look of the comic book heroes (an effect comparable to the film adaptation of Asterix). The songs are an integral part of the script. They are enjoyable and invite the audience (children and adults alike) to interact with the actors. Lubawa (played by Jolanta Litwin-Sarzyńska) is an unrefined, concrete woman who steals the attention of the audience. The second ace is Przemysław Glapiński. He plays the Corporal, but he’s really on fire as the headmistress of the Flying School.

It’s an excellent adaptation – with an engaging plot, memorable songs and impressive acting (lead by Marcin Wortmann as Mirmił and Przemysław Glapiński as the Corporal and the Headmistress of the Flying School).
