The spookiest family in the musical world returns to the Syrena Theatre stage – this time in a younger version! We invite you to take part in our Summer 2026 theatre workshops, during which we will be working on the musical “The Addams Family”!
Young@Part and Junior versions of musicals are original Broadway shows, shortened to about one hour and adapted so that they can be performed by child and youth actors. In this format, during the summer of 2024 we prepared a children-and-teen production of “Shrek JR”, and in 2025, “Monty Python’s Spamalot: Young@Part”.
This time, over the course of five weeks, the workshop participants – under the guidance of professional actors and creative staff from the Syrena Theatre – will prepare a licensed version of “The Addams Family. Young@Part”. The workshops will consist of acting, vocal, and choreography sessions, and – for the first time – speech therapy training. The final stage of the workshops will be a performance on the main stage of the Syrena Theatre – first for the participants’ families and guests, and then, over the following two days, for a ticketed audience.
“The Addams Family” is a musical based on Charles Addams’s comic strip, popularized by Barry Sonnenfeld’s Hollywood films. Recently, we’ve been experiencing a renewed wave of Addams-mania thanks to the Netflix series “Wednesday”. During the workshops, we will work on the Broadway version of the musical, including its biggest hits: “Pulled”, “Just Around the Corner”, and “Crazier Than You”. The artistic supervision of the workshop is provided by Jacek Mikołajczyk, the artistic director of the Syrena Theatre and the director of the Polish premiere of the full version of “The Addams Family”.
The cast of “The Addams Family. Young@Part” includes ten roles (Gomez, Morticia, Uncle Fester, Grandma Addams, Wednesday, Pugsley, Lurch, Mal, Alice, and Lucas). The remaining workshop participants will perform as part of the musical’s ensemble, made up of the Addams Ancestors.
Outline of the workshop program:
- acting classes with the musical’s director and assistant director (over 100 hours total)
- vocal training with a vocal coach (50 hours total), including musicality exercises, work on vocal technique and intonation, as well as song interpretation
- choreography classes (50 hours total), including stage movement and physical expression
- speech therapy sessions (a 12 hours), including work on correct pronunciation and speech exercises
Both the workshops and musical “The Addams Family. Young@Part” are produced under the license of Theatrical Rights Worldwide (TRW).
